Bible Text: “The eyes of the LORD are on the righteous and his ears are attentive to their cry.” Psalm 34:15
“This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us.” 1 John 5:14
You look around you today , many people find prayer or praying a drag, drab and a drudgery, there's a total misunderstanding of prayer. The reason many struggle with a consistent and a healthy lifestyle of prayer is because we lack passion.
I personally find prayer a " fun " thing, I am in my best elements when I am praying, particularly when I combine it with my local instrument "shekere" or "Maracas" in English. Developing , Sustaining and Maintaining a Healthy Prayer lifestyle is what God demands from us, we can folks, it will only cost you discipline, sacrifice and selflessness .
Firstly, a lot of us struggle with discipline, once we are not disciplined it reflects in every area of our lives, one of the attributes of a praying man/ woman is discipline, metronomic discipline of Time. You must develop an in built mechanism that stirs you up to pray.
Secondly, we must develop a sacrificial lifestyle , this will buoy and beef up your prayer life, take up issues that has nothing to do with you in the place of prayer, pick up burdens for people and nations.
Finally, be selfless, Job was selfless, this helped him maintain a consistent prayer life.
We all need to stir up ourselves daily in the place of prayer, as you pray with different strategies, you won't find prayer a drag and drab and a drudgery, how do you do this.
Firstly, start going on a long prayer walk, it helps you maintain a solid prayer life.
Secondly, start praying in unusual places, never be confined to just praying in your bedroom,Jesus walked out of the room to pray, Luke 22 vs 39, Luke 6 vs 12, look for parks around you, take a long walk on the beach, Apostle Paul did that too. Acts of the Apostles 20 vs 13-14.
Finally, look for what I call a prayer provoker, someone that will challenge you to pray all the time, Paul had Barnabas and Silas, then he trained Timothy, Epaphras, (Colossians 1 vs 7-8, Colossians 4 vs 12), the young man wrestled in prayers according to (NIV).
Start today it is not late.
